There is a small (3plant) hedge of white Hibiscus by the front driveway, limbs covered in some lichen? type of growth. 1st year they hardly had a flower with sparse leaves. We were going to remove them but for whatever reason, I fertilised them with complete organic fertiliser and sprayed them heavily with home made white oil 3 times over a period. The foliage is now promising to be thick and buds are forming- it has been suggested that round up could have been the problem, spraying the 'pebble mulch' to rid the weeds.
Removed by Greg in 2019
2 mock orange or Murraya Paniculata were planted to join with the other orange jasmine to fill in the hedge
HIBISCUS - RED SINGLE
This plant is a great privacy screen for the spare bedroom.
1st year it was leggy, disease ridden with mossy stems. Gave it a quick
go over with white oil which seemed to make a bit of a difference.
10-9-18 Greg pruned by 20%, cleared growth from middle, removed growth
from bottom of plant. Removed plants from base of Hibiscus but left the
Bromiliads that are further away from the trunk.
10-9-18 Fertilised with Organic fertiliser, watered in well
10-9-18 Completely sprayed with 2 x 500mls home made white oil.
new growth is emerging.
There were many attempts to re-juvinate both the white and red Hibiscus, but they were always ratty and leggy, and diseased. Red removed by Dave in 2019
