BASIL
These two basil plants came with us from King Street in 2017. They were a couple of years old then.
They do die back after flowering but with a haircut they push out more
leaves, the stems look like dead sticks for a bit with just a few leaves
hanging around the tops - then they just start re-growing, contrary to
all I have read, and no, they are not new plants from self sewn seeds,
the same old stalks, although you can see a new self sown plant on the right (green stalk not the old brown knobbly stalks)

Planted pansies around this basil plant for a bit of colour, there are
actually two plants, one is taking a bit of a dive out to the right,
thought it was going to cark it but has picked itself up and sprouted
new leaves, self sown from original plants.
Planted new seeds in a 5.5" black nursery pot & 2' sq black pot, seeds emerged on 7-9-18. Always need lots of basil, will snip off most of these plants soon and add to a salad, or tomato brushetta. Easier than trying to transplant and disturbing fragile new roots.
Basil plants emerged in tiny pots, have more than needed so gave them to Riley.
'Old Faithful' is heavily in flower, will die back shortly, tomato planted with basil is growing well, better than the other 3 seedlings planted in smaller pots.
