Begonia Semperflorens

Purchased from the $2 scrappy and damaged plants table at Bunnings with the idea of planting it in a hanging basket on the trellis.  Placed the pot in the front of the Diamantina Aganthe Scarlet, doing really well.

In fact, doing so well it zoomed up to over a foot high.

Transplanted to a 30cm Co-Co- basket liner and placed liner in hoop affixed to Trellis - we think this was originally part of a water feature.  Could have been rather pretty except we chucked the lipped saucers out when cleaning out from previous owners.
Later the weight proved too much for the ring holder, the basket was re-located to a wire stand and placed int the Mediterranean garden, although the plant flourished all the leaves turned bronze, bought the plant and stand back to the Alfresco area where the leaves regained their green, you can see a few spots of the bronze in the pic below.

Unfortunately the wire stand was unstable in the area available, so moved the plant back to the Mediterranean garden but placed it close to the Brunsfelsia to get a little protection from the mid-day summer sun. So far so good.

2nd Begonia plant - pink ---again, a scrappy $2 plant from Bunnings, early 2020.  Potted up and placed among plants in courtyard, it zoomed along and happily flowered.

Unfortunately it had one long branch broken off by ??? - divided it into 3 pieces, put one piece in water in Dining room, rooted and flowering and 2 pieces in potting mix in 2 small pots, 1 flowering both going well.

Begonias 3     Bought a small six pack of tiny little plants, about 1" high from bunnings for $4.  Sept 2020.  Potted them up in various pots, they are gaining ground a mix of colours

December 2020

The 6 pack of begonias are growing well.

again, rain damage on blooms.

The 3 cuttings from the damaged pink begonia in the Courtyard are growing well, 2 in soil, but will have to watch these for root rot, sometimes the tray fills with rainwater and is not getting emptied regularly enough.

The water rooted cutting is doing well inside, its not a bright light situation but pretty good light, the interesting thing is the new blooms are white - not pink as per the parent plant or the cuttings in soil.
There are two different vines in this vase, English ivy and the varigated Creeping Fig along with the Begonia.  All of which need to be planted out.

The original begonia was loving being in front ot the trellis but the stand was not stable and had started to fall so re-positioned back
